What is a dye destruction print?

A print of the Afgan Girl is listed in the Phillips NYC auction tomorrow as a dye destruction print. Is this digital, Ilfochrome, or what?

Its an Ilfochrome (Cibachrome) print.

I have seen a couple of them now, they are lambda cibachromes. first time I saw a print past by our shop I was miffed as it had a white border, so therefore I assumed it was not a cibachrome, then with investigation found out that the image had been scanned and outputted on a lambda using ciba material. The lasers burn the edges to white which I found funny at the time.
