The second one is the Angulon, I believe, for both reasons mentioned, corner sharpness and contrast (both overall and "local"). These days I am preferring images of the second type. Lack of corner sharpness was a big bugaboo with me for a while, but now I am more like "meh" the actual image is more important and unless you have someone's face in the corner of the frame, the corner is usually not all that interesting and one's eye doesn't tend to travel to/light upon that much in real-world looking. I saw a huge Burtynsky the other day (one of the tire piles) and the far corners weren't that sharp. Didn't detract that it is overall a sharp and impactful image.

At f28 both lenses are pretty close to diffraction limited. Good angulons at f22 and above are damn good. KFry

It looks like a wider aperture on the top one. There is better detail in the shadows evident lower right but the focus softens a little at the top corners.
Yeah. I'm familiar with Photoshop. It's the place I buy my film.

At f/28 sharpness is not going to be a whole lot different, but the bottom image is definitely softer in the corners.

It tells me that any decent lens performs well when using a small aperture.

Now, tilt the lens a bit, and the vignetting of the Angulon image will give it away a little more clearly.

The top corners are soft in the lower image, but the bottom corners appear to have about the same sharpness in both images.

I would like to know if you used any movements with the Schneider or if the corners are just a little fuzzy anyway. The bottom corners seem to be sharper than the top. Just curious since I am thinking about getting one of these to save some space.

    This was a neat comparison.

I picked the second one as the Angulon. I do not care for that soft look; I prefer a sharper look with crisper edges.

With that said, Nikon and Rodenstock lenses are a little too contrasty for me. I have a set of Symmar-S lenses, with an Apo mixed in. These are sharp lenses and have a luminosity that I like.
