    B&W film recommendations

    I use B&W film for building contrast mask for 5x7 and 4x10 color negatives. I am about to run out of my TMX 8x10 stock which has been discontinued by Kodak, and thus, I am looking for some new B&W film. Here is what I found at B&H Photo

    Efke 8x10 b&W print film (10 sheets) $25.00
    Efke 8x10 PL 100M b&W IS0 100 negative film (50 sheets) $162.50
    Efke 8x10 PL 50M b&W IS0 50 negative film (50 sheets) $162.50
    Efke 8x10 PL 25M b&W IS0 25 negative film (50 sheets) $162.50

    Foma Classic 100 8x10 b&W IS0 100 negative film (?? sheets) $150.00

    Ilford Delta-100 Professional 8x10 IS0 100 negative film (25 sheets) $79.00

    I prefer slow films that will produce long exposure times under the enlarger for constructing mask. Currently, I use HC110 developer. Any experiences you have to offer in the field or in the darkroom with these or other b&w films available in 8x10" would be appreciated.

    Your sheet is black. It's exposed correctly? ___ Yes, it's my autoportrait in darkroom...

    Hey Stephen;

    Why not pony up some money and buy some 8x10 from Keith Canham?

    How about Arista Ortho Litho? ISO is something like "6" Use a paper developer to get continuous tone.

    Did Kodak really discontinue TMX in 8x10? I thought it was only TMY.

    Re: B&W film recommendations

    Hi keith,

    I am willing to use any film. The biggest requirement which I forgot to mention in this string is I need a b&w film and developer combination that will produce a reasonable neutral gray negative, with little color casting. Any mask that has a color cast could unnecessary cause a color shift when I sandwich it with the color negative.

    Any possibilities of a film-developer combination that produce a neutral gray negative would be appreciated. It does not have to be perfectly neutral gray just as long as any color cast is not significant.
