Huntingdon's Atalaya Castle, Huntingdon Beach State Park, South Carolina. Archer Huntingdon, billionaire heir of the builder of the first transcontinental railroad, built "Atalaya" as a winter home for his wife in the early 1930s. It is supposed to resemble a Spanish hacienda with an enclosed courtyard, and was subsequently deeded to South Carolina as part of the State Park. It is something of a stabilized ruin, in that the brick structure is fine, but all the plastering and paint, along with any interior furnishings, are long gone. The best part is that admission is $2 and there are no restrictions on the use of tripods and cameras so long as you don't block access by others.
These are scans from work prints on RC paper, with minimal adjustments. While I enjoy the images for their memories, the lighting was so dull and flat that I doubt I will ever print these seriously. But would be a great site to visit in better weather (not my on and off vacation drizzle) but not during Myrtle Beach's high tourist season. Incidentally the beach, which is maybe a 10 minute walk, is spectacular. HP5+, Pyrocat, 180/6.3 lens.

Comments welcome, but please don't critique me for the wretched lighting
