Just after rain cleared I set up to shoot this scene near my home. Polarized to take shine off. Very difficult to decide where to start and stop this negative. (shot a horizontal as well.) There is a pretty wonderful chalk bowl and brick pillar to the left. (in fact, I will add it.) Wonderful scene.
Camera may not look high but was up about seven feet. Standing on 14-inch case. Just like the '60s...it's hard to get too high.
Several folks stopped to watch including two Mormon missionary girls who actually climbed up on my camera case to look through the Deardorff.
Iphone file of proof from glass sheet over the fixer tray. Going to take some very careful printing and spotting. There are lots of lines of white caulk in the brickwork. It must leak.
Stairway, Chilton and Dobbs, Tyler, Texas.
Horizontal version.
Prefogging in printing ought to pull the white bannister down. Looks like fairly well-behaved negative, just don't want it too dark or two contrasty. But not too flat either.
Thought about a yellow or orange filter to brighten up the red brickwork but decided to leave it where it was. Polarizer was enough to keep wet ivy leaves from getting too specular.

This cabin is located in Tiadaghton. Tiadaghton is an abandoned sawmill town that was located along Pine Creek during the logging days of Pennsylvania. It can be seen in the small, grassy flat along the stream at this view. It once contained a hotel, two general stores, a post office, a sawmill, and homes. Now it consists of about 6 cabins and a campground along the rail-to-trail that follows the canyon bottom. To get to Tiadaghton via automobile requires traversing down a steep and narrow road through the stream valley above the village.
