A number of years back , I decided to "clean-out" my studio -- magazines from 1960 to 1995 ----- I mentioned them to the art teacher at our local high school - who also taught photography. How many would you like? I asked. Oh, I'll take all you've got! he answered.
I left a pile of boxes in the school hallway - outside the darkroom area--- aprox. pile size 3'x4'x 8' ---- Last thing I heard from him was -- "Oh my gosh -- what have I done?!!!"
So which ones do you keep and which do you dump?
Since the BJP (UK mag) went monthly I can't throw it away. Also as a Member of The Association of Photographers I feel duty bound to hold onto their Image mag. But any of the other photomags on this of the pond I read once then recycle....and then don't buy them again.

My local library has a magazine swap cart that you can add and take from as you wish. A great way to share with other photographers and extend the life cycle of the printed materials beyond 1 reader. I've seen a few of my magazines leave and come back more than once.
Eric,
Find some interested student at a local photo-imaging school and pass them along to him/her. It's like passing a bit of history along to the next gen!
Cheers

This whole thread brings to my mind the need to virtualize all of these back issues and put them up on the net. Unfortunately, no one has the time.
I subscribe to three magazines - Lenswork, View Camera, and B+W - magazines that deal mainly with photographic imagery and not photographic technique. My practice includes:
1. I always keep Lenswork.
2. If the issue of View Camera is especially outstanding, I keep it. I think I have half a dozen copies squirreled away in my darkroom. The only example of that from the last several years is the recent special issue on Caponigro.
3. If there are individual images in VIew Camera or B+W that I especially like, I clip them and paste them into one of those inexpensive artist's sketch notebooks. Periodically, if I feel burned out, I page through those books for inspiration. Typically, I flag two or three images from View Camera (more in the latest issue). B+W is erratic - I've found that the combination of what they are choosing to publish, and the deteriorating quality of reproduction, has caused a drop in the number that I save from that magazine.
4. If there is an entire article that I think is worth keeping, I clip it and either file it in a binder, or scan it and store it digitally.
