Ahh - what a relief...
Pictures!
Ustas: this is the very first image where a P&S lens was used, that made me actually want one!... or at least try it out.
Your composition - intentional? - with her foot touching the space in between the black border is clever (or lucky)...
Love it.
Christo: good to see your pictures again!
well done!
(enough talk... )
Ustas,
This is an enjoyable casual picture with no obsession to set her up as in a studio. She happens to be in front of strong rails, (that are a potential high-risk distraction), but she easily overpowers them. A forensically sharp lens would have failed you. The soft focus allows a wider berth in this composition. In your successful result, the presentation of the girl is delicate. In that way she's like a fleeting shadow or a memory; there, but as a spirit from a dream.
In spite of the overall softness it's effect is overlayed on a sharp image in your narrow plane of focus. I'm interested in your chosen film format which makes these lens perform better for portrait. What focal length is it, or rather which No in the Series IV is it? In this format, the 12" lens, for example, can be used at a distance to get a better perspective than using it for 8x10. What was the distance from the model approx? Also is this wide open?
One small niggle, the black border. In something as etherial as this photograph, a hard border is, IMHO, imprisoning. She needs to be free to dominate and influence the white space all around her. So I'd plead for cropping away that edge.
Asher
Guys, thanks a lot for your feedback!
Emil, the composition with her foot touching the space in between the black border is half intentional, half lucky (i was not sure it would work, but it seems it does)).
Asher, the lens is a Series № IV P&S VQ. The distance from the model was approx 4m. It was quite a sunny day, so it was necessary to stop down to 6.3 (as i remember)).

Alex, glad you liked the picture!
Asher, i shoot on Sinar P2, so i primarily use the Sinar shutter. And i like my P&S on 13x18 format more than 8x10, if i`m shooting a model.
