Here are my first two sheets of HP5 (4x5) ever. I just picked up an old speed graphic on craigslist (from a member of LFF, by the way, who told me about this site) and here's my first two shots. I had exposed 4 negatives, one got mangled in the holder as I was re-inserting the dark slide (newbie mistake when loading I assume), one didn't come out as anything interesting, and these two I thought were ok for my first attempt to dip my toes in.







What do you think? I think I'm hooked.

Thanks all. Now all I have to do is resist the temptation to buy a more serious camera for a while, until I actually know what I need.
Signed up for a large format technique class at a local photo center (rayko.org).

I started with a Graflex Pacemaker and there was no resisting temptation ... lol ...

You people are making my head swell.
Oh and I have been taking pictures for a while, just with smaller formats.
It's pretty funny, actually - I started with digital (photographed plenty of flowers , then moved to 35mm film, then to medium format film.
Now, I think I'm falling in love with large format.
What's next? Daguerreotypes?

Keep practicing with the Speed Graphic and when you feel you are ready then upgrade with an 8x10.
