    8 x 10 Sinar model identification

Does anyone have any information on how I can determine what model of Sinar 8x10 camera I have? The only serial number I find is on the center rail clamp/tripod mount. that number is 58205. Also what is the best source for parts and repairs for this camera? Many thanks.

Post a photo here. All the parts swap around so there is no serial number for "the camera" only the individual parts, if they have one at all.

Also tell us where you are located. The Sinar distributor in the USA is very good:

Plus there are plenty of used pieces on eBay -- many people buy entire cameras for parts and sell the left-overs. Many rental houses and camera repair people in the major cities also have stockpiles of Sinar parts too.

For service, Bron in New Jersey (above) is the authorized service center. Also Bob at PCW in Chicago used to work for Sinar and does a good job:

If you need an 8x10 bellows, you'll do better getting one made using the old frames from the bad bellows. Custom Bellows in the UK is the best in the world, worth dealing with internationally:

    Frank,

Thanks for all the good info. I'll post a picture as soon as I get my digital camera up and going. I live in Wichita, KS.

I second Frank's recommendations for Precision Camera Works, and Custom Bellows. Bob does virtually all my service work and I've always been happy. He put my Sinar Norma back together after some nut ran into it with his bicycle, knocking it over. I not long ago bought a 5x7 bellows from Custom Bellows and will be ordering a 4x10 soon.
