Smile Hi from Scotland (original, eh?)

Hi - just a quick note to say hello.
I've just indulged in a used Sinar 5x4 and a Schneider f5.6 150mm lens with a Compur shutter. Not having access to a darkroom I thought about sticking my Nikon D300 on the LF back. So, one week of scouring ebay for the parts and I now have a frankencamera.
The shot of my trainer is the very first one - what a hoot.
It would be great to hear from anyone from Scotland(or anywhere) who has experience of LF.
    Cheers
    Pat

Even Barry Bonds can laugh at this one... it's a Lensbaby on steroids.

Pat don't forget to join us on the UKLFPG forums, for a more local view of the world, including workshops and get-togethers.

I don't have a darkroom - I shoot 4x5 film, develop it in a daylight tank and scan it into the computer. Come on, no excuse for using that diddy little digi-snapper when you can have a full sized sheet of film.

Hi Joanna - I might just try that.
    What scanner do you use?
Oh, and I've joined the UKLFPF too - just waiting for the tee shirt.
"diddy little digi-snapper" is a phrase I will use frequently from now on :-)

I use an Epson V700 with the Better Scanning film mounting station.

Yes, I've approved your application. See you over there but, I'm sorry we're fresh out of tee-shirts

    Story of my life...

What is a Better Scanning film mounting station and do I need one (as opposed to just wanting one)?

Hi Gari, I'm in Stirling, but have spent the night in McCaig's folly on a few nights when the train arrived after the boat left

Welcome to group therepy, Pat! A lot of us don't do our own darkroom work...I shoot 4x5 color and send it off the be processed; like many others, I then scan it for printing most of the time. I do the same thing with 120 film on the 4x5 cameras and on MF cameras. I set up an old 35mm SLR on my view camera, pretty much the same way you did your DSLR...it makes a wonderful macro outfit!
