    Horseman 45FA and "c-1 ring"

    Hello,
I'm new to LF and this forum has been an invaluable source of info so thank you. I've pretty much got a kit together - Horseman 45FA and Kodak 100mm wide field ektar. I've noticed a nikkor w 180mm lens on ebay, which would be compatible on my horseman, but with a "lens panel with c-1 ring". Anyone have any idea what a c-1 ring is? I did a search and found 1 related thread but it didn't quite explain what a c-1 ring is...
    Many thanks...

The 45FA is a great camera, I love mine. The C-1 ring is a spacer that moves the lens forward a bit to make it easier to access the shutter. See this for more info on Horseman cameras… http://www.komamura.co.jp/e/faq_tc.html

You might get by with a flat board. You could try it on the board your Kodak lens is mounted on to see. If not then try the below:

igor camera and midwest frequently have Horseman stuff. Also keep searching ebay.

On ebay there is a seller from China who has lens boards and various extensions for the FA that are well made.

I had a 45HD. Like the FA but without back movements. Either is a fine back packing camera. I found I could use up to a 240mm Germinar with the C-1 board. I could focus to around 15 feet. Beyond that is tele land. (There was a special high hat board made for a 300M Nikkor. I never found one)

I don't know about the China boards but I had a few off-brand boards and they were not worth the savings. None fit as tight as the Horseman board. Go the fifteen extra bucks and get the Horesman boards.
