Thread: I need help.

    I need help.

    Can someone help me?
I recently acquired a new pc running Windows 7. I had to get a new scanner and purchased an Epson V750 pro. I was able to install my photoshop 7 program.

    My problem:

How do I send the scans from Silverfast to Photoshop and then from Photoshop to the Forum. I do have a backlog of negatives that I would like to share.

If some one could send a step by step outline I would be very grateful.

    Thank you

    Barry Trabitz.

    Barry,

    In a small nutshell...

    1. Turn on Scanner and load film
    2. Open SilverFast and set the properties you want.
    3. Scan the neg and save the file as a TIFF file-type
    4. Open the Tiff file in Photo Shop.
    5. Duplicate the file with a new name, close your original file.
    6. Clone out dust bunnies, correct color, contrast, etc.
    7. Save the file. This is your Master File
    8. Duplicate your Master File, and give it a new name.
    9. Resize the file to something reasonable for the forum.
    10. Convert the file to sRGB
    11. Sharpen to taste
    12. Use File>Save for the Web in PhotoShop.
    13. Adjust the image quality to give a reasonable file size for the web.
    14. Save the file (Save for the Web saves the file as a jpeg)
    15. Post the photo on the forum.

    Voila! You're done.

My Photoshop 7 (on old MS based PC) opens Epson Scan for my Epson 4870 from an option that I can invoke from Photoshop 7's FILE | IMPORT sub-menu. After being scanned, images open directly in Photoshop 7. Is this called "Twain"? (Not sure.)

I don't know if this is possible with Silverfast, though. A quick call to them should provide an answer. Unlike Epson, THEY answer questions.

Many thanks for your input. I will call Silverfast this afternoon for help in getting images into Photoshop. Much to do.

    Barry.
IIRC there is a plug-in for Photoshop from Silverfast that launches the scanner from the File>Import, or File>Automate menus in PS. If you launch the scanner from the plug-in, the files open directly in PS.
