Differences in Blue Filters - 80 series vs 47's - b/w pan

Can anyone advise me on the differences between the 80a or b Blue filters and the 47 series filters...

I know the 80's are color correction for tungsten with color, but has anyone used an 80 in place of 47 for b/w pan?....and if so, was it as effective as the 47's...

Dan, the Wratten 80 A and 80 B filters are bluish conversion filters for color film with almost no effect on b&w-film. But the Wratten 47 and 47 B are a blue tricolor filters for color separation in graphic arts, also usable as contrast filter in b&w outdoor photography. 47A has nearly the same effect as a 80A on b&w-film: nothing but only a little exposure increase.

I was testing a new film, for me, (adox pan 25) with various filters, and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something, by using an 80A rather than 47 series (which I don't have)...

You can also use a Wratten 98 dark blue filter. It's the equivalent to No. 47B plus No. 2B filter.
