    4x5 scans

Just got these developed from a trip to the Salton Sea. Has anyone had experience with drum scanning 4x5 negatives? Also, I know there are file sizes for such scans, which one allows for 20x24 enlargement? Prices from your experience?

I plan on making some silver gelatin prints although I would like to make some inkjet prints with some of my chromes. Any help is appreciated.

    Re: 4x5 scans

There are lots of good thread on this topic, and there a number of people where who drum scan LF negatives. Do a little leg work and you'll find bunch of info.

Regarding 20x24's from 4x5's, that's about a 5 time enlargement. Most Epson printers work well with files at 360 dpi at final size. So 5 x 360 = 1800. Since the 4x5 image is actually a little smaller than 4x5", I'd make that 2100 spi (samples per inch) or more.

If you're going to be doing any image editing at all, 16-bit per channel scans are worth it.
