Bag Mag Septum

Hi,
I recently acquired a 2x3 bag mag, which works fine but is missing one septum. According to my Master Graflex book, all the septums need to be in place to keep the film pressure right in the mag. I have a Grafmatic so I doubt I will use it, but

My question,
Could I make a "dummy" septum of the same thickness (wood or metal) and place in the stack to keep all the rest in proper tension? I understand it wouldn't hold film. Anyone did anything like this before?

I don't see why your idea wouldn't work if you can make it the same shape, thickness, etc.
