Several years ago, I had the chance to document the former Will & Baumer Candle factory in Syracuse, NY. Syracuse once was an important center for the manufacture of liturgical candles; of 4 or 5 independent companies in the city through much of the 20th century, only one remains. Will & Baumer was purchased in 2008, and relocated to TN in 2010. Here's one of the factory interior from a recent blog post. In addition to the spiffy kettles, the view has one of the very distinctive columns with its mushroom capital.

Here's another, from my latest blog post on the New Croton Dam in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. This is from the interior of the dam, showing the lower valve chamber of Gatehouse 2, with the valve actuators that help to control the flow of water out of the impoundment.
