    Belesler 45MXT light source height?

    Hi ya'll:

I have a Beseler 45 MXT with a cold light head. I've owned/used this enlarger for many years. In great shape and works flawlessly. Here's my dumb question: Was there supposed to be a scale on the on the head showing the proper head height for different film formats? If so, then I'm missing it. (The wife thinks I'm missing more than that - but that's for another forum). For years I've just had the bellows all the way down for 35mm, half way up for 2-1/4 and all the way up for 4x5. Just like to be a bit more precise in this matter. And if there is a scale, anyone have one for sale? Where does it mount?
    Thanks.

    Hi Steve,
When using a color head or coldlight it should be all the way down, as close to the neg as possible.
The adjustment you speak of is used with the condenser light source.

Re: Belesler 45MXT light source height?

    Hi Steve,
David is right on; I would add that I keep the bellows at the 4x5 length (as closed as possible), regardless of the format (half-frame to 4x5).
    Hope that helps.

Thanks very much. Keep your head down.
