praise for the big yellow father

scanning some very old 35mm E100VS and some RVP today. to begin with 35mm is a bitch to get quality images out of.. Kodak showing me once again that their product is far superior in tone and color for basis capture. incredible, velvia so damn difficult having to put in so many adjustments that everything isnt dark.. grumble grumble

Ditto. I'm much happier with my scans from Kodak in from both positives and negatives. With Fuji's color negative, I still get pepper grains in the Nikon LS-4000 scans in Pro 160S and Reala, but don't see this in any of the updated Kodak films, HD400, Portra 160VC or NC, new 400NC, Ektar, CN400 and even the cheap UltraMax800 are all free of the weird pepper grains I see in the fuji scans. With the older NPS, I even see some traces of that grain in my flatbed scans. Maybe the fuji film just doesn't like the LED light source. I don't have so much trouble with fuji's positive film, but kodak E-6 films are all very straightforward to scan.
