My short list... do you like it? what's yours??

    Hello,

Checking the net... is probably what I do the most when I am bored and then I do short lists... I have one for watches, travel destinations... and so on. The one of interest here is of course the LF lenses list.

I have in my possesion a Nikkor-SW 120mm. YEs just this one... so you can imagine that there is room for more in my bag and so I go checking the net...

Well the criteria for the list are: Best quality for good price (as in cheap), good image circle, ability to conver at least two formats among 6x9, 4x5 and 8x10 and use the whole manufacturer offers

    Apo-Grandagon 55mm
    Horseman Super ER 65mm f/7
    Schneider SA MC 75/5.6
    Nikkor SW 90 f8.0
Rodenstock 150mm f5.6 Sironar-S - well... I selected it only because of its sharpness
    Fuji 210 W f/5.6

    Do you like the list??

PS: I should say that eventhough I would like to have these lenses, I am not planning to buy them anytime soon so it is not necessary to contact me by pm for offers Cheers

Such lists are really personal choices. Others here on the forum will have some difficulty with adding to the list without knowing what kind of photography you currently do or might be intending to do in the future. I see you are focused on several wide angle lenses which indicates that you shoot up to 4X5 at least. I notice you list no long focal lengths, say 300 mm and above. Kind of indicates that you work with mostly landscapes. Good list so far.

List making for the sake of list making might be considered a compulsive behavior. But I'm OK with whatever you want to do, and I'm willing to be an enabler!

Your list is too short; Add a 300mm lens.

    Here's my short list:

An unlimited supply of Cuban Cohibas
An unlimited supply of various Scots Whiskys
An unlimited supply of a variety of oysters and other shell fish
A long life span to enjoy these unlimited bounties

And in between enjoying these, I'll expose a few sheets of film...

Hi Vincent; my first addition to the list would be a Nikkor 300mm f/9 - this is a small lense (52mm filter), that will cover up to 8x10. If you do go up to that format, I'd then look at a Nikkor 450mm (again 8x10 coverage, 52 mm filter). After that, I'd look at a 210mm. You might not need any more lenses after that.

Well I have 2 of your choice, except my 75mm SA is an f8 & isn't Multicoated, however it's as good as, shooting straight into the sun it was flare free & no contrast drop while a modern Canon lens was useless.

Personally I would stay with German lenses as they match better, and I would widen the gap between focal lengths, use you feet to move in/out.

David suggest a 300mm, the Nikkor is a great lens, I have one and it's my least used lens, twice in over 20 years, (however it'll be used on my 10x8 when using studio flash)

My main lenses are a 65mm SA, 90mm Grandagon, 150mm Sironar, 210 Symmar, thats a good spread, in addition I have the 300mm Nikon, and the 75mm SA but that's fitted to a 617 camera.

Now that is a list i can agree to.
In addition a 14" Dagor in the mix and i would be a happy camper.

The 300mm is indeed a good choice but it will come whenever I upgrade from 4x5 to 8x10. I realised I didn't give you enough info.. I shooot 4x5 and 6x9 mostly architecture
