Nice work Scott. I would love to see your original AZO prints.

THanks for th ephotos and the stories.
How lucky you are to have studies with Bill Jay. I met him late in his life and revere the time we spent together discussing photography. He was one of a kind.
Good job. Taken when you were at Tillman Crane's workshop in North Dakota. My Uncle works with Tillman on it each year. It is a workshop for people who want to photograph with access to these old places. Help sessions, portfolio reviews, location help when and if needed. A week of varied weather and old farmsteads, school houses and Churches.
One interesting fact is that three of those who have attended have printed books of images from the workshop. Many have images in Salon shows across the world. My Uncle informed me there will be a show at Taube Museum of Art in Minot, ND in 2020 open to all who have taken the workshop. It will be the second gallery show there in the past six years and third show of workshop participants in that time with the other being at the Prairie Village Museum in Rugby, ND where the workshop participants stay.
Dan Dister shot film for this. I know all formats are welcome and digital to 12x20 have been used in the workshop. It is all about getting good images and each year a few new places are added as older ones disappear. This year there will be some more new locations.
I have met some of the workshop folks and seen their images and it is some pretty nice work, like Dan's image here.

Another good image from Dan done on the North Dakota workshop with Tillman Crane.
My Uncle was there last week working on an image at sunrise with the sun ball behind the house and had to move away and missed the shot because a moose decided he was too close. He moved away and went back the next morning which was even better with the ground fog that helped set it off. Not LF, but 400mm lens on 35mm to emphasize the sun ball.
Our area is gently rolling hill country with flat farmland nearby. Makes for some nice opportunities if you are at all creative. Best part of the workshop is that we have written permission to be in and around the places. No one is trespassing. The photographers can relax, visit and re-visit the locations. Last year they have 24 different locations to pick and choose from.
Before moving here to the farm my Uncle has I had not visited North Dakota. I really like the open feel of the place. I know some workshop photographers got good Northern Light images a year or so ago. They are hit and miss but in the workshop you can photograph nights, early mornings and late evenings if you want. Some very creative work comes from the photographers of all levels of experience - as you can see in Dan Dister's images.
