Clear glass ambrotype, in the rinse water (bubbles and water spots at the upper left will be cleaned off. My scanner choked. Halfplate with Jamin petzval, 30 seconds.

Is that a Greyhound. It looks like one and the big idle old sod that I've got could stand a 30 minute exposure without moving (except near meal times).

This was one of my earliest 4x5 images. It was the epic year of 2003 out in the Lancaster poppy area. It was a simple tilt focus, which in those earliest days, took me about 20-30 minutes to set up. By the time I got ready, my Lab had wandered into the scene. I exposed one sheet of Velvia 50 with her in it and then shooed her out for another sheet. The one with her was the better image.
Just this year, I learned the Antelope valley is crawling with Mojave green rattle snakes (Crotalus scutulatus), with about the deadliest venom in North America. Needless to say, my Labrador will not be wandering around in this area in the future.
