    Matte black for Epson 4000/4800/4880

I ordered matte black ink for my Epson 4000, but received the one for Epson 4880. Do these printers use identical matte black cartridges (220 ml)?

The 4880 cartridge will work in a 4800, but NOT in a 4000.

Here's why I'm confused. If you look up the Epson 4000 matte black catridge on Epson's website (T544800), both the Epson 4000 and Epson 4800 are listed as compatible.

This is only for matte black mind you, I know the other catridges are completely different.

But if you look up the 4800 matte black cartrigde, the 4000 is not listed.

So that would mean the 4000 cartridge would work in the 4800/4880, but the 4800/4880 cartridge would not work in the 4000.

Is that the way it is, or is it just a typo?

Now I'm just as confused as you. Apparently Epson has changed the part numbers, but not the inks. I looked at B&H's site and Atlex, and It looks like the 4880 cart should work in the 4000, so I think I was initially wrong, sorry. Can you just try it?

Not if I want to be able to return it without a hassle.
