It's in Albuquerque. The sign is probably because the motel was one of the Breaking Bad filming locations and has had a lot of people wanting to take pictures of it. I was surprised that nobody came running out of the office to accost me. I did have two guys in a truck behind me chortling every time I looked around.
Actually suburbia, but close enough for government work . This is a panorama made up from two 4x5 images inexpertly put together in Photoshop. I had seen a multi-negative panorama by Jim Galli in the "old things" thread, and a series of somewhat similar panoramics in the NY Times which I posted in the On Photography forum. The join is painfully obvious in the sky, but I liked the way the idea worked out, and I will be making a similar panorama "the old fashioned way" by printing the negatives in my darkroom, and dry mounting them together to make the panorama. But the negative scan and simple join in Photoshop gives an idea of what I'm aiming for:

Canham DLC, Rodenstock 150mm, Ilford HP5+, PMK
Negative Scans merged together in Photoshop, no processing other than the merge and some clean-up of dust.
And another attempt at a panorama, this one simply by using an 80mm lens and cropping to a panorama. These are a fleet of "cherry pickers" which have been clearing overhanging branches from local power lines, and apparently are all parked behind our local library.

Thanks, Clay.
