Linhof 612pc and Tachihara 8x10 Questions.

    Hello,

What is the difference between a Linhof 612pc and a 612pc II?
Is there any Camera stores in Australia where I can get a Tachihara 8x10?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Linhof 612pc and Tachihara 8x10 Questions.

The shutter release was greatly improved on the 612 in 1988 and with that improvement the name was changed to the PC II.

On the original 612 PC as you pressed the release you pushed down and then you would hit an area with no resistance and as you pushed further you would feel resistance again and as you pushed still further the shutter would fire. This made hand holding and firing difficult. The PC II eliminated that problem. PC II also has a button to disengage the film transport lock. The original PC accepted the 65mm and 135mm lenses. The earliest PC II cameras also used these lenses. Then a modification was made to the lens mount so the PC II modified versions could accept the 58mm as well. Today the PC II accepts the 58mm, 80mm, 120mm, 150mm and the 180mm.
