Vaughn, thanks. Took a while to get this one right. A lot of contrast in this image. Great thing about carbon. The control we have to make an image like this work.

Here's a scan from a bleached Fuji FP100C45 negative. I was pleased at how sharp the negative is, and how the colors held up. All I did is scan it with my V700 and cropped it in Photoshop.

For background, I spotted the skull on family friend's ranch when I was about 4 (in the early 80s), and they picked it up and gave it to me. I was terrified of it when I was a kid, mostly because it still had bugs and some brain matter in it. Needless to say, my mom was very anti- bringing it home. HAHA!

Jim, this is outstanding, and a fantastic tonal range. I love the graphic qualities most though!

    Beautiful!

I carried something like that home from a backpacking trip and gave to an artist who makes art from skulls. I haven't seen how my skull turned out...

Curt, thanks. I remember the striking contrast and lines that caught my eye. This was shot in Yosemite some time ago and I just remembered the negative.

Here is a cyanotype toned with wine tannin. Read about the process here.

Thanks Mark. I love that little folder and carry it around quite a bit. I have found that the images it makes are actually between 9.5 and 10cm which gives it that little extra stretch. The 4.5 mask works nicely too when I want to double my exposures.
