Yeah, it's a different look than a cmyk gum print. Your persistence will pay off!

I can't speak for PVA, but you can certainly size between gum layers when using gelatin. I don't think there is any reason the answer would be different for PVA.

The PVA does seem to be an easy way to size, but in my experiments, gelatin does produce smoother results with less staining FOR PIGMENTS THAT ARE PRONE TO STAINING... So, on many prints, you may not see any difference at all, but if you are using a pigment that is prone to staining, it appears to bring it out more.


For a two or three layer print, I'd be using PVA unless I saw staining to speed things up.

I think Sandy has used them, so ask him. I will go to Inkpress once I use the last roll of film I have, which is a similar brand that I got about 7 years ago. They seem to no longer exist. I somewhat suspect that these are all the same product, more or less, but I'm not sure about that....

Nice workflow... I wish I had the room to do good production work like that!

Here's a pic of the box I have, I've not used it though. It's definitely different than the pictorico ultra premium I use. This is for the 11x17 size.
Nice setup Bob, although I didn't like the comment about a clean workspace!
