    San Francisco Downtown

    Hi folks,

I am a newbie to LF photography. I would love to hear your advice on how to best
go about correcting the left leaning on the buildings on this image. The camera used
was a toyo 45CF which only has front movements. I have recently purchased an Ebony
45S which has limited back movements as well.

    Thanks for the comments.

If you have the bubble level on the back standard and it reads level in both directions and you still have this out of level image you might have some screws loose on your front standard making it tilt... Or vice versa

level the camera, then shift, fall, rise, to frame image on GG Movements aren't used to level camera

a good way to check to see if standards line up is to take the bellows off and move the standards together and see if they aline

I would suspect the camera was tilted up slightly, the back not adjusted to vertical to compensate (due to not being a feature of the camera), and the camera not being horizontally level in addition.

If my guessing is correct, next time you need to have the back on an absolute vertical plane with the buildings, then raise the front standard to adjust your upward view. I suspect you had a parallax issue and you leveled the camera horizontally by looking at the flag poles which appear parallel with the film edge on the right side.

With this photo, you should be able to correct it in Photoshop fairly easily assuming you've digitized the negative.

Looks like the flag pole on the right is leaning a bit, might need a few more minutes in PS.

It looks like the camera was not level. If it were parallax from pointing the camera up, then the buildings on the right would lean into the picture, and they don't.
