Has Kodak announced that it's going to discontinue 8x10 TMY? A salesman at Ador ama told that it's either discontinued or will be by the end of the year.

I don't know but if they do I will be buying all I can!
I standardized on HP-5+ since I think it will be the last 8x10 film to go.
Anyone know who has 8x10 T-Max 400 inventory? Checked B&H and it was not in stock. Thanks
This is Kodak's subtle way to get all their cusmtomers to buy Ilford films. Tri-X? Tri-X? We don't need no stinkin' Tri-X!
Cheerio
I got an e-mail from Kodak. They are discontinuing TMY 8x10 in the 25 sheet box. They will still be offering it in the 50 sheet box.
For now . . . .
Kodak's Web site now has a version of publication F-32, "Kodak T-MAX Professional Films," carrying a September 2001 date. Interestingly, on page 26, after noting that the catalog numbers below apply to products sold in the US, and that different sizes are available by special order, it goes on to list only these standard sheet film sizes:
TMX -
100 sheets 5x7
10 sheets 11x14
20 sheets (Readyload packets) 4x5
TMY-
100 sheets 5x7
No 8x10 of either emulsion, no 4x5 other than Readyloads. What do you think - - massive typos? Or wierd marketing?
Sal, I really hope it was a typo! If not somebody must take away the drugs the marketing people are taking. According to your post they will stop selling TMY in 4x5 boxes, 8x10 boxes, and will sell it in readyload, and 5x7? so lets see, they are going to close the market on the sizes they sell the most and leave the market where they sell the least? I bet you there is a moron MBA from Harvard telling people "hey folks lets force the LF photographers to buy 5x7 and readyloads by taking away our most succesfull packaging sizes" LOL.. Anyhow, like Dan Smith said, recently I have been thinking that Ilford does make some nice films, and the new Fuji ACROS is not too shabby!
Last night I checked my most recent printed copies of F-32. In the same section, with the same introductory words, they had these entries:
February 2001 version-
TMX-
25 sheets 4x5
100 sheets 4x5
20 sheets (single-sheet Readyload) 4x5
100 sheets 5x7
25 sheets 8x10
10 sheets 11x14
TMY-
25 sheets 4x5
100 sheets 4x5
100 sheets 5x7
25 sheets 8x10
September 2000 version-
TMX-
25 sheets 4x5
100 sheets 4x5
20 sheets (double-sheet Readyload) 4x5
100 sheets 5x7
25 sheets 8x10
10 sheets 11x14
TMY-
25 sheets 4x5
100 sheets 4x5
100 sheets 5x7
25 sheets 8x10
So it seems that there has been no 50 sheet 8x10 TMY package available as a standard order item for at least one year. Reminds me of something Dan Smith said elsewhere about the variability of answers one gets from Kodak...
I don't have it in front of me right now, but one of our dealers gave me a copy of a Kodak pamphlet dated this month called "Current Films at a Glance". The most notable change was that most of the current sheet films were going to be offered in 50 sheet boxes only. Since we mainly shoot only TMX, I paid the most attention to that....so for 4x5, the 100 sheet and 25 sheet boxes will be phased out this fall. It wasn't straight across the board either, it seemed like some films were still available in 100 sheet quantities. The bigger changes came in the chemistry lineup though. Like the small 8 oz bottles of Selenium toner were being phased out, and some of the other ones, the Brown toner & Polytoner sizes were gone too. The half gallon dry chemical sizes, D76 etc. were discontinued. I've found alot of discrepencies between what the Kodak Pro site says, what the catatlogs say, and even what a rep will tell you. If there's a kodak dealer near you all, see if you can get a copy of this list. Personally, I'd rather see them make all the sizes in 100 sheet only if they had to, that way it's less packaging to throw away...we can burn up 100 sheets a week easily...
