Beautiful shot Gevalia. Looks the way I wish my shots of the Northern Wisconsin lake country would look, but never do for me. I imagine your actual print does an even better job with the shadow details than the scan can achieve. It must be a lovely print. Congratulations, and here's to hoping to see more from you.

I tried this about a week ago, but was a bit baffled with the focusing. I was trying to focus on the plane of the water's surface, thinking that was where the reflection "lived". I went back and corrected my error.

Re: What did you compose at Water’s Edge?

When you're documenting a hydroelectric facility, its pretty tough not to include at least some water....

The buildings at the top of the hill are part of the mill for the Vermont Marble Company in Proctor, the two small towers just off the crest of the bluff are the surge tanks for the two penstocks that run down the hill into the powerhouse, the white building at the water's edge below is the (relatively recent) addition to the original 1905 powerhouse (which, alas, is not visible from this view below the falls).

Another from the stack of spare prints that I ran across yesterday, and scanned quickly last night. 4x5, Schneider 150 lens, a bit of front rise, Ilford Delta 100, f32, 1/2 sec.

Wow, dasBlute, that is one beautifully conceived, composed, and executed image. It just jumps off the screen for me. Mind sharing some shooting information (just nosy, ignore if you choose). Hope to see more from you. Only thing is, the lagoon doesn't look dry, nor very lagoonish. Maybe just my midwestern naivete?

I ran across another older print, this from another hydroelectric documentation project a few years ago. The dam, just visible in the background to the right, is now gone, but this lovely little powerhouse remains.

Thanks Chris - I believe it was 1/2 a sec. Typically I shoot moving water a bit faster, but depth of field concerns and low light levels (it was taken at sunset) made it virtually impossible.

h20man, I like the abstraction here, and classic treatment; some other images
of your are almost pano in aspect ratio, is this a 6x17 back or cropped?
