Thanks for the suggestions Bob. I am going to try contact printing this tonight and will definitely be going darker after reevaluating the image. The negative is a bit thin anyway so that'll be easier .

The curve of the water fall from top to bottom is what I was going for so I definitely want to accentuate that.

Do you think darker than this?

Yes , you may be able to soften the grade a bit with this approach ... its a look that many fine printers Paul included use with their printing and I love the deep , no detail blacks.. Brett Weston really knew how to play this game.

Its using negative space to form an idea.

Yes go as far as you think and then beyond , lower the contrast a bit and a certain luminosity will start to glow from the negative space.

I'll give it a shot. I like the almost specular highlights in the leave on the upper right when printed down. I also have a 6x17 negative I'm about to post and will have to consider options on that one as well.

    Hi Corran

I am only making suggestions, sometimes I have been known to be wrong, but this image may work really , really , really deep.

Well I appreciate the ideas. I often print differently in the DR compared to how I edit my scan. I go and look back at the scan and am surprised sometimes. This will be a difficult negative anyway due to how thin it is.

Yes, your second post is a huge improvement! It's exciting to see variations develop from the same negative.

I agree, this is a much more satisfying rendering of this image. Well done!
