    Morgan Lagoon:

4x5 Foma100 EI64, CPL, Xtol 1+1, probably 90/6.8 Grandagon-N. Apologies for the uneven scan, my LF scanner is well on the way out.

Yes, I did have to use bellows extension. I don't recall how much--didn't write it down. Also, I didn't compensate for bellows extension because I knew the film (Portra) would hold the detail I needed in the low values. If I had been using Astia, or another chrome film, I would have been more careful calculating the exposure increase due to bellows extension.

I know this wasn't much help from a 'numbers' point of view. I use the ground glass and focus by inspection while using swings and tilts, and aperture, to get it right.

Fallen Redwood tree across a creek, Chamonix 45N2, 90mm 6.8 Grandagon at F/22, Tmax 100 for several seconds. I had to be careful to not knock anything in the water as I was directly over the creek set up on the tree. iPhone photo of 11x14 Ilford Warmtone Fiber workup print.

The snow pack in the Sierra Nevada was pretty light this year - But I hiked up to Nevada Falls in Yosemite NP on April 22nd. I took the pack animal trail (it is a little longer hike but much easier when loaded with a full pack) I carried my linhof 4x5 with a Rodenstock 150mm lens, 6 film holders, light meter, filters ect.... It was a 3.5 mile 2000' climb.... I took it slow - I think I'm getting a little long in the tooth! Anyway .... out of the 12 images I made, two negative stood out. The posted digital files are just scans from the negatives - the prints are very good (with detail in the shadows). I used the same 2 locations Ansel Adams used for two of his images of Nevada falls. While his objective was to capture the rainbow that forms at the base of the falls (it requires frontal lighting on the falls which takes some of the depth away from the falls rock face ) I wanted to capture my images with side lighting to emphasize the granite cliff in a shadow - the and shadows created within the falls itself.

Garrapata Beach just south of Carmel Ca, is one of those beaches that changes everyday. It is a steep beach that faces directly out to the Pacific - waves don't roll in - they just crash on the beach - depending on the winds the north end of the beach can provide some nice surfing (but very short rides). I was there on a quiet easter morning this year - clouds were constantly changing the light. I started out on the bluffs above the beach and made two images - one of a surfer on the beach with his dog , the other of a very sweet wave. I later dropped down to the beach and photographed a rock face. Many of the local masters have made many images from this beach - I have never seen any duplications.

I dig it. Simple with a lot of texture.
