    Omega D2 Baseboard Size

    I'm picking-up an Omega D2 this upcoming week and am going to be building a stand for it. Can someone please tell me what size their baseboard is? I might just screw the enlarger to the stand but the dimensions would still be helpful to know how big to build the stand. I don't see myself printing any bigger than 16x20.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Rob, I have a D5xl and the base board is about 34x22. My 16x20 easel hangs over the edge by a couple inches but works fine.
    regards

    A D2 fully extended will print a little larger than 20x24 from 4x5 with a 135mm enlarging lens. Formula to figure enlarged image size is:

    (D/F)-2=M
    D = Distance from negative stage to baseboard
    F = focal length of enlarging lens
    M = Magnification

    Re: Omega D2 Baseboard Size

    At 18x26 inches, I found the original D-2 baseboard to be too narrow for my 16X20 easel.

    Therefore, when I built an enlarger stand for my D-2, I made the new baseboard 30 inches wide by 24 inches deep. Using the original D-2 mounting plate I fastened the enlarger to both the new baseboard and the top of the enlarger stand, using longer bolts, washers, and nuts.

    I used 3/4 mahogany plywood for the baseboard and 3/4 plain plywood for the top surface of the enlarger stand. The total baseboard thickness is one and a half inches.

    It's very solid and vibration resistant. I now have room to adjust the position of the 16X20 easel without overlapping the sides of the baseboard.
