    Re: Turkey--Recommended Books/Photographers

While looking up some of the photographers mentioned by Emrehan and others, I came across something called the Eczacıbaşı Virtual Museum, which is in both Turkish and English. There is a section on the work of Turkish photographers here: http://www.sanalmuze.org/sergilereng/index05.htm On that page, click on "Photography".

I am wondering whether Emrehan might know some of the technical details behind Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Turkey Cinemascope project. There is lots of speculation on the internet about how they were made, but it is just that, speculation. Arif Asci, one of the photographers profiled on the Virtual Museum site, also does panoramic photographs: http://www.arifasci.com/

    r.e.,
The Eczacıbaşı Virtual Museum covers only a few photographers. In addition to the ones I mentioned before, you may want to check out Ahmet Ertug (http://ahmetertug.com/index.html), who is a large format photographer. He has produced brilliant images of monuments and historical sites. Unfortunately, I don't know about the technical aspects of Nuri Bilge Ceylan's project.

One of the photographers discussed in this thread, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, shared the main prize at Cannes this year for his film Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. The film opens in New York on Wednesday. Today's review by the New York Times: http://movies.nytimes.com/2012/01/04...arts&seid=auto

Here is an earlier thread on Ceylan's work: http://www.largeformatphotography.in...ad.php?t=23624
