    Re: Post your trains!

When I called the local short line, I was informed that, train schedules for freight operations weren't given out because of security.
I then asked if there would be a train passing today at a certain old depot; and was told I should leave my house "now" so I could be set up when the train did pass.
Turned out to be very good information.

You're lucky Ron. Everything around here is Norfolk Southern and I think they have the market cornered on hatred of railfans.

Example: a few weeks ago they ran a steam special for their employees. They had their cops staked out near every bridge, crossing, etc. to scare photographers away and where there was public ground that would provide a view of the passing train they positioned their vehicles to block the view of the train. I didn't even bother trying to go because I figured they would be harassing people.

It's a real kick on soft spot for me as I like close enough to one of their biggest yards on the east coast (I can hear the whistles when I have my windows open at my desk here) but it's not worth the potential hassling for being near (not on) their property.
