    Gorgeous!

It's funny, I have an image where it was late in the day with a blue cast, and I knew that it would have this blue cast when taking it, but I really like the image anyway. Same feeling here, I think it's really peaceful, however as I shoot Velvia 50 more and more for "normal images" versus the long exposure skyline images that I first fell in love with it for that have extreme colorcasts that are pleasing to me, I wish I understood more about color correction and filtering. I'm sure SOMEWHERE out there, there's a split graduated colored density filter with like a 0.3 factor with a split and a graduated neutral density filter with like a 0.9 factor that would help in the evenings, but I don't know where I would get one.

Sorry for the tangent but you made me think of that, this image is excellent and I hope you continue your Velvia50 love, as will I

mijosc - nice shot. Seems a bit magenta to me? Is the light really like that or is it a scanning issue? thanks for sharing.

The transparency looks pretty close to what's on my calibrated monitor, but I think the colors are a little bit different after it was converted to sRGB and uploaded to Flickr. That being said, I don't shoot Velvia for accurate colors.

Actually Ed, I looked again, it does have a magenta cast compared to the original transparency. (Now I remember why I usually shoot black and white!) I uploaded a tweaked version, I just can't figure out how to update my original post, so here it is.

Another Velvia 50 shot. I paid a little more attention to color correcting this time. Although I consider myself to be more of a black and white photographer, Velvia is quite addicting.

mijosc, wonderful work. I love the morning alpenglow and composition. Did you have to set your camera up the night before to compose and focus? That canyon is actually the first hike my parents ever took me on, I must have been three or four years old. Anyway, really well made photograph.

    Regards,
    Brad

Thanks! My girlfriend and I hiked into the canyon later on that day.

I did not setup my camera the night before. It was light enough that I could focus without trouble.

Very nice photos on your website BTW!
