I had some fun today shooting a cheap lens. I recently bought a Rolleicord with a Triotar lens on it that renders really nicely. I thought it sure would be fun to have something similar in 4x5. A little bit of searching and I found a Rodenstock Trinar 13.5cm f/4.5 lens for all of $25, in working oddball shutter. I think it originally came on a 9x12 folder of some sort. So I popped it on a lensboard and tried it out.
At wider stops it really sucks but at medium stops it is nice and sharp and has that smooth rendering I wanted to see, especially in the backgrounds. Here is a landscape shot at about f/22 IIRC, taken on Fuji 160S:
