I, too, noticed the haloing, but did not want to be overly critical of an otherwise beautiful image. Since others questioned the phenomenon, here's my 2 cents...

Looks like the image may have been processed in Photoshop. This type of halo is very characteristic when, for example, the selection of the sky apart from the mountain top/trees is not accurately refined. This often shows up in highly detailed areas. Note how the halo floats right above and follows the tree line.

There are tools and techniques to easily remedy this issue.

If I'm wrong about post processing in PS, it's a mystery to me.

    Hi,

First of thanks to all for the comments and feedback on the image.

With regards to the halo effect on the top left, it is indeed shoddy Photoshop work on my part - I am by no means a Photoshop expert unfortunately. In my feeble attempt to adjust the image, the halo effect was created and I had completely overlooked it.

The image itself was taken in Oct/Nov two years ago and frankly I had totally overlooked in favor of some other images I took during that day. Having revisited it, I realized its potential, albeit at the expense of some poor editing work

Hi Radius Unsharp masking in Photoshop would create this,

Also never sharpen on the colour layers,, go to luminosity or better yet go into LAB and sharpen on the L channel.

I don't know if this one is about the waterfall or the trees or the water, so I'll just post it here. Luckily my wife can still muster the patience to let me bring along the 4x5 every now and again while on vacation.

Thank you. I believe it was a 150mm (Fujinon in my case) on Fomapan 100 in R09.

A strange picture of a historic packhorse swingbridge near Milford Sound, made on 4x5 Shanghai GP3 in D23. I need to try again with Whole Plate FP4+ and Pyrocat, but I wonder if I might prefer this, the dodgy version.

I really like it. Very appealing in many ways.
