This is my first post even though I joined some time ago. I have been shooting 4x5 very sporadically over the last couple of years, now I want to increase my output by shooting LF for the bulk of my work. I am still getting used to working with the medium and experimenting with various film etc.

I captured this image as the sun set and briefly lit the trunk of the tree...

    Welcome to the forum.
Such a familiar sight and captured well of outback Australia.

So I popped it on a lensboard and tried it out.

At wider stops it really sucks but at medium stops it is nice and sharp and has that smooth rendering I wanted to see, especially in the backgrounds. Here is a landscape shot at about f/22 IIRC, taken on Fuji 160S:

You've got a real signature style, married with your location. Not to 'blow smoke up your ass' as we say here, but as I scroll over the images in the thread I saw this and immediately knew it was yours. Awesome work as always!

Hey, thanks a lot Alex. I really appreciate it! I'm moving soon, to unknown lands, or possibly just slightly north...so we'll see how that changes things...

I look forward to seeing what you do. You're not shy to shoot what most would probably assume mundane and in difficult photographic conditions and challenging conventions of composition. Your blog has always had me envious of making the most out of tricky situations, photographically speaking. I definitely admire what you do. All the best with it...

A good image. I would like to see a dialing back of the vignetting, but otherwise strong, and visually fresh and interesting.

I don't miss Ohio but seeing shots like this make me miss Hocking Hills at least. Nicely done.
