I took this image in Feb. I had such high hopes that the clouds would be great for sunset, but as usual, I was skunked. Taken with an Ebony 8x10 using a Fuji 300 5.6 on Velvia 100F.
Jim,
I might prefer that image to what you would have gotten with a red/orange sunset. I like the six horizontal layers and the palette of orange/brown and purple/blue, with the band of white sort of between (sort of because of the bit of blue/purple below the clouds).

Re-scanned this old negative. I was never able to get a satisfying scan as the density in the sky was a bit too much for my old scanner to handle, unless I let the entire area with trees block up to black. Taken with my Nikkor 500mm telephoto on TMX, yellow filter and CPL:
Beautiful image Jim - the 100F palette is ideal.
