That's a really pleasing image, Gabe. How often have we seen these moments of special light, and not had our cameras set up!
    Where are we going?
And why are we in this handbasket?

Thanks Joe. More often than not, to be sure. For this one it was one of those situations where I was set up, hoping for the sun to break through a correctly placed clear patch of the drifting overcast to sidelight the scene. Many times it would get ever so close to doing so yet never quite happen. I had to wait for quite some time before finally getting this brief moment.

One of the many hanging valleys in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, this one on the west side of Otisco Lake. This on a lovely early-autumn morn, on Ilford FP4 4x5 and a red filter, with my trusty little g-claron 240mm lens. I am happy to report that it printed rather nicely, requiring only a bit of burning-in of the sky.

Beautiful photo. My wife and I visited the Finger Lakes area last summer and really enjoyed it.

Thank you, Ben. I am entirely smitten by the Finger Lakes, and am fortunate to live so close to them. I just began a more active exploration with the 4x5 late in the summer, and intend to continue for a while.
