Yep, I was out there and a little foolish, but I know how to drive that shit and I had 50 gallons of water, camping gear, food and crazy Art. I was alone, as usual.

I have been stuck way out in the Mojave in winter unprepared. Walked 25 miles and was about to sleep 2 guys to one sleeping bag, when a truck drove up, put us in the back with dogs. Gave us a magic cigarette, 2 beers and drove us all the way to civilization. I was happy to get my new truck out the next day. Lot's of burned vehicles in the Mohave. Then I learned how to drive desert. Spent many winters in Mohave.

These days, when I can get away, I prefer solitude, or a small group of friends. The cow picture was made on Jungo road, which is the road you took. It is indeed a long slog from there to the west side of Black Rock, and very desolate. To anyone exploring around there, I highly recommend you be prepared for any contingency. If something bad happens, help might not arrive for a long, long, long time. Unfortunately, I speak from personal experience.

This had such a maternal feel to it that I couldn't resist grabbing it with my cel phone. Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. Manipulated, cropped a little in PS.

This allows me to use all of my existing Mamiya 645 lenses as shift lenses. I'm also a normal lens guy through and through, so for most of my work, a 45mm is going to be more useful to me than anything wider than that. Eventually I'll spring for the proper Canon lens, but it's not in the budget right now and supposedly Canon is going to be releasing a new version anyway. So after comparing every conceivable option, this turned out to be my best bet. So far, it's working out very nicely.

Andrew, I instantly interpreted your photograph the same way. Amazing what the eye sees.

Although itsy bitsy (or eensy weensy, I've heard both versions), this spider wasn't particularly interested in any water spouts, having already snagged a gnat or similar sized bug on its flower.

Easter Sunday walking around the Stanford Shopping Center (much less crowded). Fuji X-E1, 60/2.4 macro, and a whole lotta luck!
