    Which is better

I have a question for all you LF experts out there. Which camera would you prefer over all in performance and lens usage.
    1. Wisner Tech Camera
    2. Shen-Hao
    3. Wista

I'd put all of these equally on 1st place.

    Re: Which is better

I actually wouldn't want any of these, the Wista is overpriced, the Shen's bellows is too short and axis tilt is a pain to use, and the Wisner is too difficult to use with wide angle lenses without futzing around with a bag bellows. But if I had to pick only from this list, it would be the Wisner, then the Shen, then the Wista. Of all the 4x5 LF cameras I've owned or am familiar with, my favorite has been the Linhof Master Technika followed closely by the Chamonix and then a distant third, the Ebony Ti.

    Re: Which is better

The answer is -- it depends. These cameras aren't exactly comparable. The length of the bellows are different: the Wista's are shortest, at about 12" (300mm), followed by the Shen, then the Wisner has the longest.

Are you ever going to want to use a lens longer than 210mm? If so, the Wista is out and the Shen is shuffling toward the exit. The Shen poops out at about 360mm. For those reasons, I got a Wisner Tech Field. I'm not a short focal length lens guy, anyway: the shortest lens I use with any regularity is a 127mm, and the Wisner works fine with that. My longest lens is 420mm and I'm wishing I had the money for, say, a 19" Artar.

Of course, then later I sold the Wisner and bought a Zone VI; very similar camera but about half the price. The Wisner was prettier, though...
