    C41 4x5 processing in Nairobi

Is there such a thing? I don't know. I don't feel like letting my hundreds of sheets of film be risked by bumbling baggage handlers.

Granted, Im not there and haven't shot a single frame yet but, soon (5 days).

Also, anywhere to get 4x5 film in Nairobi?

http://prolabresourcecenter.kodak.com/ - which unfortunately does not show anything in Africa.

So I checked elsewhere, and found:

    Fuji Kenya Limited (Distributor)
Photographic Film and Paper, Film Cameras, Digital Cameras, Digital Printers, Minilab Systems, Medical Systems
    P.O. Box 41669, Nairobi, Kenya
    254-20-4446265

Probably something to be found through the Kenya Yellow Pages.

    Ciao!

There may well be a lab somewhere in Nairobi - but I'd strongly suggest you simply carry your film back with you as hand luggage. You'll know what I mean once you see Nairobi....

I have 200 quickloads coming with me, I was just checking for a backup plan. You know, if the plane tanks into the Mediterranean or something. Im sure the first thing I will be wanting are some sheets of film....

There are a few limited sources of sheet film in South Africa. I should imagine you may find something in Egypt - in between, I wouldn't hold my breath - Fedex would be your friend if you got stuck. A Mamiya 7 with 20 rolls of whatever would be a sensible backup.

When I travel abroad no one else is every allowed to carry my film, either exposed or unexposed. That is the one thing that always stays with me. Let the baggage handlers lose something else. Better to be out a few pair of underwear than your film.

Besides, you can probably buy underwear in Nairobi.

Sandy, couldn't say it any better myself. My film is all being packed into what is normally my laptop case (along with ipod, cables, random BS) and staying stiched to my side. I am also bringing my 1ds mk3 digital, which is actually my main camera and my 4x5 is the 'backup.' I know, weird. Its what I do best.
