Found this poor starling months after he'd gotten into the building where I (infrequently) shoot tabletop images and died.

    Absolutely stunning.

Is it a tiny bit crooked though?

Yes, bother it, lack of rear shift. The camera got off-square chasing the shadow on the right.
It should be done with rear shift. Next time, p'shop perspective correction. Here's same window shot straight. Note screw-size discrepancy under Gandolfi and the 5x7 spliced polaroid.

Flash, plus time exposure. It started out on 4x5 but I had to switch to high-speed roll-film in a 120 back.
So it's only half a cheat.

Is this film amazing, or did you manipulate those photos? They look almost like paintings to me, especially the grapes. They could have been taken right out of a Caravaggio still life.

No manipulation. Over-ripe white grapes behave like marbles and concentrate some coloured light in the shadow side.

Wonderful. I looked through the rest of your photographs by the way. They are marvelous.

Actually, I'm not sure if you should ask, for this was in fact, something dead. I called the Portland police about it when I got home, and after giving the dispatcher the location and a detailed description, she told me that they'd send someone out to take a look. She then offered that they would contact me in the off-chance that it turned out to be "something." I haven't heard back.
