Re: How are your ART sales this year?

    Up-date on my print sales.
We had our "artists of the area" Studio Open house at the beginning of Nov. I had about 400 people through the studio which I was happy with. I sold one print then and had a follow-up sale of a second print. (Same shot actually) Although the sales were slow I was thrilled with the weekend and have plans to expand it next year.

Later in the month I had work hanging at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. It's a pretty major public gallery in the area. I had two sales of 16x20's ($600 each) at the show.
The gallery said they were happy with the interest and I was happy with the sales.

Un-related to selling art prints, I've found the photography business to be very busy the past 18 months and don't expect to see a drop till after June. I work most days from 9am till about 10pm and only took about 5 days off this past year. I have two part-time assistants who never get caught up.

So over-all it's been a good year... but I don't live off print sales only.

I hope the rest of you are busy as well.

This year, but it's my first time, I sold three 4x10 contact prints.
I sold them by my internet site, the others in a gallery I didn't sold...
I hope to sell better the next year(even if the year it not finish yet), but as first time I'm quite happy.

I did approximately $1700 in sales at the recently concluded Festival of the Crane at the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. This included 2 images larger than 20x24 inches. All images were from my 4x5s. As an experiment, I made some cards on Epson Enhanced Matte paper and sold about 30 of those.

The show comes down Friday. I am up to 9 sold, all of the three hung and three each of two of the prints additionally, by far the best I have done at this show ever. I think though it is somewhat of a fluke as for the first time for this show I put in images that were "pretty" landscapes as opposed to the dark moody, religiously overtoned stuff I usually put in it (which have more much meaning for me personally).
    Thanks,

Congratulations on a great show! Having viewed your site I think some of your "dark moody" images are outstanding and probably would have done well also.

Thanks John, and I have had many of those from the website in this yearly show previously. They do sell, but nothing like this years suite.
    Thanks,

Kirk, congratulations on the sales. I'm curious, what were the landscapes of that sold so well?

Don, here they are. These are part of a collection of images where I am trying to capture the few remaining pristine long views of the Sandia Mountains next to Albuquerque. One of the first sold and 4 each of the other two. All are scanned 4x5 film.
    Thanks,
    Kirk

    Kirk,

Nice work. Were the first two made off of I-25 or I-40?

    Thanks,
