    new backpack

designed to carry telescopes while backpacking. The Telescope pictured in the ad is roughly 10" in diameter and a foot long.

Brand new, never seen these before, kinda got my interest. Wonder how many padded dividers are inside?

Cool! I wish they had more specs. It looks kind of like my Lowe ( which is heavvvyyyy!)

The price is reasonable, but I've learned the hard way that the seams will blow out on cheap backpacks and the harness can be an instrument of torture. It may be a great pack, but I'd be reluctant to go without any recommendations. I badly need a pack for my Deardorff and the more research I do, the better Photobackpacker looks.

    Hi Joseph, Barry,

I can't speak to the Orion bag but if you have a Mountain Equipment Co-op in your part of the woods, check out the following packs:

Pangea 60 or 75 Travel Pack

    Ibex 65 Backpack

The Ibex holds a Dorff 8x10 (with 5x7 reducing back), 3 or 4 8x10 and 8 5x7 holders, darkcloth, 4 lenses in a Gnass case, and other miscellaneous items. Unfortunately, the side zipper only opens on the one side as opposed to the one on the Pangea 75 that opens up the top half of the bag all the way around.

On the same page, check out the "Back Pack Fitting" information...

The Photobackpacker bag also looks like a great bag...

    Cheers

Funny you mention MEC. I was in Toronto on a business trip and wandered into the big MEC store--what a great place! I was pretty overwhelmed at the backpack selection and without my camera, I couldn't gauge the fit, but they had some beautiful packs. I decided it was better to wait and figure out what I really needed, but I did buy a very cool pack for a friend's three-year old.

The Ibex looks like a car seat--huge, but comfy.

It's actually quite a comfortable pack but it was a bit too long for my build. So, I ended up with the Pangea 75, which holds 15L more than the Ibex.

For the mentioners about the PhotoBackPacker...

Mine came in yesterday... I'm impressed big-time!!! Amazing how much it will hold and how comfortable it is to wear even loaded down quit heavily. My old LowePro has been demoted to being a holder for extra equipment and it resides only in the closet.

I fail to see how anything out there can be much better.....

I got my new pack about a week ago to lug around my 4x5 and assorted crapola. An old Army Alice with frame and lumbar support and pouches and, well, this thing is really cool.
    Thanks.
