That would be good but I have all my matting and framing stuff under the bed

The ultimate alternative, of course, is a refrigerator-sized safe, tucked ever-so-discreetly in a corner. Cost: about $2K, weight: about 900# (empty). Think o fit as a single-premium insurance policy.

Justification? "But, Sweetheart, we can also use it for all the jewels I plan to buy for you during our lifetime together!"

. . . to which she replies. "Bullsh&#%*! Every time I found a necklace I liked, you were broke because you just bought a new lens or some other camera junk!"

I vote for under the bed in those plastic bins with rollers for easy access. Leave the lids off for ventilation. Plus, for more vertical space put your bed up on those plastic bed risers that add about 6 or 7 inches of height. That gives you room for much deeper bins.

I'm seriously considering setting up one of those free-standing wardrobes like this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00891634000P in our basement for the clothes so I can take over the closet. I'll still have to deal with the vacuum cleaner in the closet but I might be able to get all my camera gear as well as my JOBO 3010, Beseler base and other stuff in there.

    Thanks for the ideas!

This sort of box in canvas used to be sold by Bed Bath and Beyond. It makes a great negative drier, sheet film or roll, as the moisture goes out through the canvas and the dust does not come in.

The closet where we store the vacuum clearners (upright and canister) always has a dusty smell. I wouldn't consider this a good place to store anything photographic, equipment or supplies. Just my opinion.
