    I wouldn't blame the scanners output on the scanner itself in this case. I would definitely blame it on the software you are using to get the image from it. Using Epson Scan is like driving a Ferrari with a Honda engine. Have you tried SilverFast? I like it a lot and have had exponentially better results with it. I have not tried VueScan, though. I really haven't had a reason to use anything else. Just my thoughts.... -Brian

    Rather than starting a new thread, I thought I would continue with this one.

    I noticed that Vuescan has an option for creating a DNG file. I assume this was not available in 2008 when this thread started.

    Is there an advantage for using DNG?

    I tried one, and it opened in ACR CS5 with no problem, and was not difficult to color balance a scan from a slide. I don't know if there is any advantage to a raw TIFF or a normal TIFF, for that matter.
