Phil Kember on PBS - Great Lodges

Last evening, PBS ran Episode 1 of "Great Lodges of the National Parks Volume II."

    http://www.pbs.org/opb/greatlodges/

At the end of the first segment, which covered Death Valley's Furnace Creek Inn, Phil Kember was shown working with his 8x20 Korona. Phil has posted here under his full name and as "Death Valley Phil."

Many PBS stations run these programs at different local times and some repeat them, so check your TV listings if interested to see some ULF material on a national broadcast.

I saw that episode, almost by accident as I surfed the cable. I was mildly shocked at how "new" his camera looked considering he drags into such harsh conditions.

He talked about how hard the desert is to photograph and how few really good shots he has accomplished over the years. Interesting stuff.

Congratulations Phil! I emailed him a few years ago to ask some questions and he was very generous with his knowledge, and he's an excellent photographer.

I saw it and him, but I didn't know who he was/is.
