I'm not sure what magazines have to do with the price of fish, but I'm not criticising the image other than to say it looks excessively sharpened on my screen. As stated above that might be due to Flickr making the bizarre decision to sharpen images for us, or it might be due to Eskinazi using a lower resolution monitor and thinking he needs to boost the sharpening or clarity in scanning or post. It would be good to see an unedited scan of the neg - I'm sure it's plenty sharp enough straight from camera!
The negative in fact is pretty sharp, I checked the history of the editing and actually I haven't applied any sharpening at all, but might have been too far with clarity indeed (well, I went all the way).
That's the original:
But I really don't mind the criticism, specially if makes me think about my processing.
Cheers!
I very much like the dodging and burning, and I'm a fan of the whole series as well.
One reader pointed out the sharpening, and that is a factor when using Flickr; there seems to be no way to turn it off.
I've been trying out PhotoBucket, and the difference in sharpening is significant.
Keep up the great work!

Nice - yeah the difference is really obvious. Are you using Lightroom? I previously only used Camera Raw to process and PS CS4 for retouching (I shoot digital for work). I used to use ~ +25 - +40 clarity in ACR and now I can only nudge it to ~ +10 - +20 in Lightroom 5... it's a completely different animal now! I would never negatively criticise someone's work so I'm glad we can talk about it like good little forumers (forumites?)!
